Another reason I don't use tarot cards or other tools in my readings and healings:
When I was a
child, the sole part of me that was valued was my mind (not my curious mind, but good grades and high aptitude
scores). I began to focus on that part of
me and to gradually hide the rest to avoid punishment and ridicule at home and to
receive “safety” and acceptance in school.
I became so
accustomed to favoring this rational, thinking
part of me that later in college my best friend rolled her eyes and said, “You analyze everything!” Because she was a math major, I thought she
was kidding. She wasn’t. It drove her
crazy when I analyzed everything. I had clearly overcompensated!
So, though
I know a lot about astrology and a
fair amount about numerology, palmistry, and the like, I do not get intuitive leaps when I look at them,
but stay with the facts. Hence, my reading style - which at my very first
psychic fairs (in ’79 and ’80) I learned to call “straight psychic”, which at
that time meant using no tools.
